This year I had the absolute privilege of meeting Trust Women founder, Julie Burkhart, along with Development Director, Rebecca Tong, at an event here in San Francisco. It was incredible to meet with folks I’d only communicated with online, as well as other likeminded Bay Area supporters, from nurses to lawyers. I heard about the need for more health care providers to come and work at the clinics in Wichita and Oklahoma City. I learned about their decision to open a clinic in Seattle, so that they would be in a “safe” state in case Roe v. Wade were to be overturned (this event was prior to the horrific Kavanaugh confirmation).
I was encouraged to see Kansas vote in Sharice Davids and Laura Kelly this year and hope that progressive organizations in that state can continue to make strides along with this changing political environment. In the meantime, I’m still happy to make a donation and help women in Kansas continue to access the healthcare they need.
