Promise of Justice Reforming Louisiana

When searching for organizations in Louisiana this year, I remembered the horrific video of the sheriff using such language that the clear parallels between modern slavery and mass incarceration became abundantly clear. I wanted to find a non-profit working toward reforming policy in that state and found Promise of Justice. Happily an initiative they’d been working on to eliminate a Jim Crow era law passed this midterm cycle.

The Promise of Justice Initiative seeks to reform Louisiana’s criminal justice system and abolish the death penalty.

Our projects focus on ending the death penalty, fixing inhumane conditions of confinement, exposing prosecutorial and judicial misconduct, eliminating poor representation of criminal defendants, and ending racial discrimination in the criminal justice system.

I am happy to make a donation and continue learning more about their work.
