When the atrocities our own government commits against immigrant families were laid bare in early summer, I joined so much of our nation in collective despair. It illuminated for me, and so many others, the absolutely necessary and difficult work that organizations like The Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project have been doing for years. The Florence Project provides legal resources protecting the civil liberties of the human beings who have come to our country for a better life, not to be detained and separated from their families. The staff of this organization are dedicated to making sure that freaking infants find their way back to their parents after our government takes them away without rhyme or reason (if you don’t get choked up reading about this, you’re on the wrong blog). I am gladly donating again to this organization and hope you will too.
